Satisfy your clay curiosity! We start our beginner class with basic hand building techniques, then explore an introduction to wheel throwing, and finish our work with a few glazing techniques during this fun class! Your instructor guides you through each step together as a group. This class is designed for students with no experience in clay who want to get oriented to the material, tools, process and our studio before attending All Level and Beyond Basics classes. Plan 5 to 6 classes to finish your work.

These classes are geared towards individualized instruction (based on skill level and interest) for students at all levels. While choosing your own projects, tools, materials, and techniques, learn more about how to work with clay to achieve your personal goals relating to form, surface, function, technique, and/or concept. Demonstrations will be driven by students’ interests and goals, so each class will be as unique as its participants.

Work under the guided instruction of an experienced potter who will offer you specific feedback that will help you continue to make progress. You will practice independently, but be invited to all of the demonstrations requested by other students, so you will be exposed to a lot of new information about how to make the different forms you are going for. Learn more about glazing and decorative options.

Some experience required, no beginners in this class.

Fridays, July 8th, 15th, 22nd, & 29th, 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Students will make a two part plaster mold of a found object; like a jar, a cup, or a piece of fruit. You'll learn to make our own designs in plaster and then make single or two part molds of those objects to make vases, planters, mugs or sculpture. You will also learn to make small molds for decorative parts and to attach cast pieces while wet. Beginners welcome.

Sundays, September 11th & 18th, 1:30 to 5:00 pm
Learn to make and use paper clay to make forms that can't be made using unreinforced clay. Learn to make dry to dry connections.

Sundays, September 4th, 11th, 18th & 25th
1:30 pm to 4:30 pm
Sculpt faces or masks to hang on the wall. Grace will guide you in using additive/ subtractive modeling, reference images, and the use of armatures when necessary. Considerations for firing and surface finishes will be discussed. Firing is not included. Basic experience with clay required..

Saturdays, October 1st, 8th, & 15th, 1:30 to 5:00 pm
Learn to design and create your own digital waterslide decals and transfers (screen-printed on tissue) to decorate your pottery and sculpture.
Materials are not included, list to be sent to registrants.
Some clay experience OR digital design experience is highly recommended.

Fridays, October 28th, November 4th, 11th & 18th 4:00 to 6:00 pm
Learn how to make tiles using a mold, how to design and create a backsplash for your own home. Installation will be discussed.
Beginners welcome.

The $25.00 will apply to your first membership payment with us. It is non-refundable when canceling within 24 hours.

Beginning students learn the basics to throw on the wheel (centering, opening, lifting, shaping). Students will make one or two pieces. Firing fees are $5/piece and are optional. Students can choose a glaze and we will finish pots for pick up or shipping (additional fee) within 3 to 4 weeks. Alternatively, students can book a follow-up appointment and learn to glaze their own pots.

Advanced students contact us to discuss your goals ahead of time.

Participants will create their own handbuilt project using techniques such as pinching, coiling, paddling, using a slab, and slipping and scoring attachments. Each guest will get a turn on the wheel with one to one assistance and will create one thrown pot. Guests will choose glazes, and we will finish it with a clear glaze. Glazing and firing is $5/piece and is optional. Work is ready for pick up (or shipping, for a fee) in 3 to 4 weeks.

Clay Class for Kids is a fun hands-on ongoing weekly session for kids to learn ceramics techniques and make whatever they like using their imaginations!
