Satisfy your clay curiosity! We start our beginner class with basic hand building techniques, then explore an introduction to wheel throwing, and finish our work with a few glazing techniques during this fun class! Your instructor guides you through each step together as a group. This class is designed for students with no experience in clay who want to get oriented to the material, tools, process and our studio before attending All Level and Beyond Basics classes. Plan 5 to 6 classes to finish your work.

Work under the guided instruction of an experienced potter who will offer you specific feedback that will help you continue to make progress. You will practice independently, but be invited to all of the demonstrations requested by other students, so you will be exposed to a lot of new information about how to make the different forms you are going for. Learn more about glazing and decorative options.

Students will make a two part plaster mold of a found object; like a jar, a cup, or a piece of fruit. You'll learn to make our own designs in plaster and then make single or two part molds of those objects to make vases, planters, mugs or sculpture. You will also learn to make small molds for decorative parts and to attach cast pieces while wet. Beginners welcome.

Sculpt faces or masks to hang on the wall. Grace will guide you in using additive/ subtractive modeling, reference images, and the use of armatures when necessary. Considerations for firing and surface finishes will be discussed. Firing is not included. Basic experience with clay required..

Learn to design and create your own digital waterslide decals and transfers (screen-printed on tissue) to decorate your pottery and sculpture.

Beginning students learn the basics to throw on the wheel (centering, opening, lifting, shaping). Students will make one or two pieces. Firing fees are $5/piece and are optional. Students can choose a glaze and we will finish pots for pick up or shipping (additional fee) within 3 to 4 weeks. Alternatively, students can book a follow-up appointment and learn to glaze their own pots.

Participants will create their own handbuilt project using techniques such as pinching, coiling, paddling, using a slab, and slipping and scoring attachments. Each guest will get a turn on the wheel with one to one assistance and will create one thrown pot. Guests will choose glazes, and we will finish it with a clear glaze. Glazing and firing is $5/piece and is optional. Work is ready for pick up (or shipping, for a fee) in 3 to 4 weeks.
